FIT is excited to offer guaranteed entry to run the 2025 Lewa Safari Marathon. This is your chance to run the 25th anniversary edition of this one-of-a-kind marathon run the heart of Lewa Conservancy in Kenya! The experience is a perfect trio of travel, charity and epic running! Held in a Kenyan game park, the Lewa Safari Marathon is the largest annual fundraising event for London based charity, Tusk. The Safaricom Marathon helps fund extensive projects in Africa specifically in conservation, education, and sustainability programs. This is a top five marathon experience in our minds and part of FIT’s year of giving back through running by offering this launch of one of our favorite destination experiences. Your world will be changed.
FIT LEWA SAFARi ITINERARY:
DAY ONE | JUNE 23rd
Welcome to Africa! After landing in Nairobi, proceed through customs to meet your driver and transfer to your hotel for check-in and a good nights rest. Overnight: Nairobi
DAY TWO | JUNE 24th
After breakfast, meet your driver for a tour of Nairobi including entrance to Nairobi National Park, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and Karen Blixen Museum. Enjoy lunch at the farmhouse before returning to the hotel. Overnight: Nairobi (B,L)
DAY THREE | JUNE 25th
After breakfast, depart in 4WD vehicles for your drive to the Aberdares. We will arrive for lunch at Aberdare Country Club before heading to The Ark for our evening stay. This is a true cozy stay at what feels like a sanctuary and a beautiful way to see animals at night. Depending on arrival times to ACC we may have time for a shakeout run before lunch. (B,L,D)
DAY FOUR | JUNE 26th
After breakfast, meet your driver for transfers to Lewa Conservancy. Upon arrival, we will check into our Location Africa Safari tented camp, our headquarters for race weekend. Enjoy lunch, explore camp and go for a late afternoon training run in the game park with your armed guards before settling into conversations with the Tusk team over traditional sundowners. If there is time today we will visit our first Tusk project so you can directly see the impact of your fundraising! (B,L,D)
DAY FIVE | JUNE 27th
Awake to the magic of Africa on an early morning game drive of Lewa and the many paths you will run tomorrow! Breakfast awaits upon return before we head out for our second project visit. Lunch will be held in camp and there is free time to relax before the race briefing followed by pasta dinner. (B,L,D)
DAY SIX | JUNE 28th - THE LEWA SAFARI MARATHON
Today is the day! Join a global array of runners and local Kenyans as you make your way via foot to the start line to run the 25th anniversary of the Lewa Safari Marathon. Race starts at 7:15am. Lunch and dinner are served at camp as you celebrate the accomplishment of this amazing event! (B,L,D)
DAY SEVEN | JUNE 29th
After breakfast, load the trucks and meet your driver for return transit to Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi where day rooms are included for you to freshen up before your return home. OR opt to continue your safari in Africa with our FIT post-trip to the Masai Mara!
EXTEND YOUR TRIP: MASAI MARA LUXURY SAFARI
DAY ONE | JUNE 29th
After breakfast, the post-marathon celebrations will continue as you board your flight from Lewa Downs to the Masai Mara. Upon arrival, transfer to your new tented camp at Governors. There might be time for an afternoon game drive before a sundowner to conclude the day. B,D
DAY TWO | JUNE 30th
Early morning game drive or opt to sleep in! Return for breakfast before departing on another game drive. This afternoon opt to visit a Masai Village. B,L,D
DAY THREE | JULY 1st
Opt to book a bush walk or hot air balloon ride over the Mara (we highly recommend). Full day of game drives before your last evening at Governors.
DAY FOUR | July 2nd
Early morning game drive and breakfast before flights from Masai Mara to Nairobi. We hope you have enjoyed your time in Africa. Safe travels homeward!
